Libenice is a municipality in the Kolín District of the Central Bohemian Region, located 7 km southeast of Kolín, with a population of 319 and a cadastral area of 4.82 km². A Neolithic settlement and a Latène grave were discovered here in 1959. The first written mention dates back to 1142, and a fortress was built around 1400, which burned down in 1643. In 1932, Libenice had 15 businesses and shops. The municipality was administered by Gruntu from 1850–1991. A third-class road leads to the municipality, and road I/38 runs through the area. The nearest railway stop is in Hlízov (3.5 km), and the Kutná Hora – Kolín bus line serves Libenice. The municipal coat of arms and flag were granted in 2018. The asteroid Libenice was discovered in 1986.
