Koválovec is the smallest independent municipality in Záhorí, situated at the foot of the Bielych Karpát mountains in the Skalica district. The first mention of the village dates back to 1394, but the 20th century saw a significant population decline, falling from an original number 2.5 times larger to today’s 137-138 residents. Today, Koválovec is experiencing an influx of a younger population.
