Śnieżka is the highest peak of the Karkonosze Mountains, the Sudetes, and also of the Czech Republic and Silesia, rising to an altitude of 1603.30 m above sea level. Located on the Polish-Czech border, it offers stunning views – on a clear day, visibility extends over 200 km. The mountain is a popular tourist destination, and at its summit you’ll find the Chapel of St. Lawrence and meteorological facilities. Śnieżka is characterized by a harsh climate with strong winds and low temperatures, and its geological structure of hornfels makes it tower over the surrounding area. The peak is part of the Crown of Europe and is an important point on the map of Karkonoski National Park.

We made the trip to our highest mountain in the morning, which turned out to be ideal. The drive from Pec through the Giant Mine was great with spectacular views almost the whole way. In comparison to the route over the Pink Mountain it was incomparable. There is nothing to see. A bit more challenging climb, but nothing that can't be done. I recommend

Every proud Czech should visit Sněžka at least once in their life! Unfortunately, we also experienced unfavorable weather the second time, so we couldn't enjoy the beautiful views…

Unfortunately, Sněžka has become a tourist highway. We wanted to go for the sunrise, but there were already about 200 people there. But the hike from Úpa, about 630 meters of elevation gain with 7.5 km, is beautiful.
