Libovice is a municipality in the Kladno District, Central Bohemian Region, with a population of 383. It lies above the Byseňský potok stream, five kilometers west of Slaný and twelve kilometers northwest of Kladno. The first written mention of the village dates back to the second half of the 13th century. In 2019, the municipality won the Golden Ribbon in the Village of the Year competition. Near Kejkol, black coal was discovered, mined by František Beyer, around whose estate the settlement of Svatý Jan arose with a mill and a Neo-Gothic castle, which fell into disrepair and was demolished in 1967. Coal with germanium was mined in the Jiřina II mine. In 1932, Libovice had two brickworks, the Jiřina mine, a barber, three pubs, two blacksmiths, and other trades and shops. The municipality received its coat of arms and flag in 2011.
