The Otava Cycle Route, also Cycle Route 12, is one of the main cycle routes in the South Bohemian and Plzeň Region. The route begins in Modrava in the Šumava Mountains and runs along the Vydra and Otava rivers through Sušice, Horažďovice, Katovice, Strakonice, Písek, and ends in Zvíkovské Podhradí. The total length of the route is 152 km and it was marked in 2007. In 2011, a section of the route between Katovice and Strakonice was relocated via Pracejovice.

Great section approximately 5 km before Písek in the direction of the current on the right bank of the Otava. We really enjoy riding bikes on the well-known Čertova stezka. Be considerate of any oncoming traffic and runners. 😉🙂

The section Rabí-Sušice-Hartmanice is picturesque and easily passable. Towards Šumava the power plants make sense. Only Nová Dlouhá Ves-Nové Městečko is a class II road with no space behind the shoulder and no dividing line, where cars, cyclists and in part also tourists of the Vintír's trail are led 🫣. I also prefer to take everything with me, food and water is often not met. Well marked and in the terrain.
